The Aviation Sustainability Center (ASCENT) at the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture is pleased to announce a workshop on “Building Awareness of Sustainable Aviation Fuel.” The 1-day meeting will be held at the University of Tennessee Conference Center in Knoxville, TN. After opening with a series of presentations to establish the current condition of aviation biofuels in the Southeast, the program will focus on gathering information on logistical challenges to building a complete and flexible supply chain for the industry.
The workshop is intended to meet several important objectives:
- Broaden the network of stakeholders that are engaged and actively supporting introduction of SAF to Tennessee and the Southeast
- Enhance local, state, and regional resources to address gaps in developing the bioeconomy workforce and improving the skills of under-educated workers
- Identify the necessary steps to bringing SAF production in the Southeast online
The ASCENT mission is to provide the scientific underpinning for the regulatory activities of the FAA Office of Environment and Energy. The center plays a critical role in the implementation of alternative jet fuels to decarbonize the aviation industry.
